South Barito PSC
Main reservoir objectives in the area are Eocene Tanjung sandstones, Oligocene Berai limestones and Miocene Warukin sands. No exploration has been undertaken in the southern Barito Basin for about 25 years. Murphy will acquire new onshore 2D seismic data in Q2 2010 and undertake a comprehensive geoscience evaluation in order to identify drillable prospects.
Semai II PSC
The Semai II PSC lies around 100 km southeast of the Tangguh LNG Project that includes two giant gas fields. The Tangguh fields, reservoired in thick high quality Jurassic sandstones, provide successful analogues for exploration in the Semai area.
Murphy has recently acquired a 1,920 km2 3D seismic survey covering a number of large structural leads in the northern part of the PSC. Seismic data interpretation and a comprehensive geological evaluation are underway to define the best prospects to be tested.
