BP Indonesia Headquartered in Jakarta, the company is mostly involved in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector in Indonesia with the development and operatorship of Tangguh LNG, the country’s third major LNG hub located in Papua Barat. Through our joint venture with ENI in VICO Indonesia, which operates the Sanga-Sanga PSC in East Kalimantan, we also deliver gas to one of the largest LNG plants in the world, Bontang.

Role synopsis:

BP Indonesia Career Program
The Project Engineer is a line delivery role within the Tangguh Expansion Project team and has accountability to supervise contractors’ execution of engineering design, equipment and materials procurement, fabrication, transportation and construction.

The Project Engineer will work alongside the discipline engineers to ensure that the design intent and standards are complied with, ensure technical and commercial issues are resolved and the facility is designed and constructed in full compliance with all BP and statutory requirements.

The PE utilities will be the project engineer for the Tangguh Expansion utilities plant. The position will be part of the LNG project management organisation and will report to the OSBL Team Leader.
Key accountabilities - To ensure the Safe Design and Quality Build of the Tangguh Expansion facilities
  • Assist in monitoring and driving project progress, through performance management of contractors to ensure safe design and quality build, on schedule and within project cost targets - Support preparation and implementation of effective project execution plans and procedures
  • Monitor and supervise day-to-day contractor activities and performance to identify and implement recovery plans as appropriate- Manage interface between key stakeholders, including engineering companies, contractors, suppliers and government agencies asset and local community
  • Monitor and supervise the preparation, review and approval of engineering, fabrication and construction deliverables to ensure comments from key stakeholders are incorporated appropriately
  • Monitor and supervise preparation, review and approval of procurement procedures, approved vendor lists, Purchase Requisitions and Invitations to Tender
  • Monitor and expedite equipment and materials fabrication, inspection, supply and delivery to the Module Fabrication Shop and Construction Site to ensure technical, quality, cost and schedule issues are properly resolved
  • Support Design Office activities to ensure module and site constructability issues are proactively addressed and incorporated into the design and execution strategy
  • Support Client Completions Team to ensure punch listing and pre-commissioning activities are carried out effectively
Essential Education At minimum Bachelor Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline from a reputable university
Essential experience and job requirements - At minimum 10 years experience in project engineering in oil and gas industry either in PSC or EPC company
  • At minimum 5 years experience working as Project Engineer in major projects (at value of min USD 500 mill)
  • Experienced in utilities processes within major oil and gas facilities ie. power generation, integrated steam systems, etc
  • Experienced in the management of engineering design and project execution planning
  • Experienced in initiating new ideas and challenge status quo to achieve cost efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skill, able to influence and build network across discipline
  • Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Highly motivated to accomplish goals – able to work with minimum supervision
Desirable criteria & qualifications - Chartered Engineering status in one of the key engineering disciplines

Experienced in representing organization in Contractor's Design Office and Module Fabrication Shop
  • Experience of LNG project and/or LNG Operations
  • Strong background in Brownfield engineering and project execution on live plant

Education
  • At minimum bachelor degree in an upstream function such as geoscience or engineering or equivalent upstream industry experience
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years experience performing technical data management in one of the following Upstream data domains (i.e. subsurface, wells, production, engineering); loading, exporting, transforming of data to and from Upstream master and project database(s).
  • Strong knowledge of data types and data uses in one of the aforementioned Upstream data domains.
  • Experience with data loading and exporting, and the analysis of data problems and quality issues
  • Good understanding of Upstream data, work flow processes and DM standards
  • Competency in Unix/Linux/Windows administration and shell scripting
  • A good understanding of the concepts of application system/architecture and application integration
  • Able to read and interpret data models of widely used Upstream industry master and project databases (e.g. Openwork)
  • Familiar with the use of geographic coordinate reference system and Upstream data domain specific standards and transformation concepts
  • Effective communication and writing skills necessary to effectively supervise, motivate, teach, and lead technical discussions and information sessions
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with attention to detail
  • Strong Bahasa Indonesia and English communication skill

  • Ability to work independently while interacting with a global team of data professionals from a variety of backgrounds
Desirable criteria & qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of document and record management
  • Basic knowledge and skills on ITSM (Change and Service Management)
  • In-depth understanding of databases: Oracle, SQL Server, creating and configuring databases
  • Extensive experience with SQL Plus and PL SQL programming
  • Experience in integrating data across Operating Systems: Unix, Linux and Windows
  • Knowledgeable of multiple Upstream data domains
  • Experience in delivering projects with adherence to Project Management methodology (e.g. methodology from PMI)
