Garuda Indonesia is a government-owned national company operating in the field of air transport. The company was founded in January 26, 1949, with the first aircraft is a DC-3 Dakota.
PT Garuda Indonesia Airways continues to grow rapidly, the 1950 already has 38 aircraft consisting of, DC3s as many as 22 aircraft, Convair 240s by 8 planes and 8 aircraft Catalina. In 1954 the company has added 14 aircraft De Havilland Herons, where previously the company has added 8 aircraft Convair 340s in 1953.
In 1977 all aircraft owned Garuda fleet replaced by jet aircraft types. Government owned airline is expanding rapidly significantly, to receive the award and be recognized at the international level.
